Lateef is one of rap collective Quannum Projects and tours with Blackalicious.


Born and raised in Oakland, CA by politically active and former Black Panther parents, Lateef the Truth Speaker is most well-known for his role in the Bay Area rap collective Quannum Projects, alongside Chief Xcel, DJ Shadow, The Gift of Gab and Lyrics Born. Together, they helped usher in the underground golden era of hip hop in the 90s and 2000s. His 20+ year career in the industry is highlighted by a Grammy nomination for his collaboration with Fat Boy Slim on ‘Wonderful Night,’ and his duo Latyrx with Lyrics Born, who spawned the popular Bay Area anthem ‘Lady Don’t Tek No.’ Lateef’s current project is with Bay Area Reggae stalwarts Jah Yzer and Winstrong as Roots & Tings, as well as touring regularly with Blackalicious.

Grammy-nominated Lateef is one of Bay Area rap collective Quannum Projects, who ushered in hip hop’s underground golden era in the 90s and 2000s. He also tours with Blackalicious.
