Always Remember To DanceHenry Binns | David Henry Etherington | Alana Stewart
Lauded for her refined phrasing, sultry tone and deft lyricism, ALANA elevates intimate torch songs into transcendent spiritual experiences. Born in New Mexico, ALANA was raised in northern California, where she received formal jazz vocal training. Cultivating her taste in bluegrass, gospel and Americana by attending festivals with her grandparents, she later developed an affinity for indie-pop, new folk and downtempo, and following art school she moved to New York, supporting herself by busking and selling copies of her recordings. It was via one of these demos that ALANA was discovered by London-based tastemakers Chess Club (Wolf Alice, MØ), who put out her 2010 EP, The Misuse of Chemistry. That same year she also appeared on BBC 6Music and started co-writing with Dee Adams. Collaborations with Audio Network composers The Flight, David Etherington and Henry Binns (Another Sun, Zero 7) followed, and since 2022 she has worked with husband Michael Darius on product design and artist development incubator roses/foundation.
